Frequently asked questions (FAQs)
On average, people using Wegovy lose around 21% of their body weight, while Mounjaro delivers even stronger results at 22.5%.
Both work by curbing your appetite, helping you eat less, and stay fuller for longer. They're not a magic fix, but if other methods haven't worked for you, they could make a real difference.
Through our partner pharmacy myBMI, Mounjaro 2.5mg is available from £169 per pen, Wegovy 0.25mg from £119, and the 1.5mg dose of the Wegovy pill from £99.
Each pen holds 4 doses, lasting you around 4 weeks. For pills, you have a month's supply and take one pill per day, first thing in the morning, without any food or water. As your dose goes up, the cost will too, though not everybody needs to reach the highest dose to see meaningful results.
Side effects are possible, but not everybody gets them and they're usually mild. Your body often needs a little time to adjust, so if you're feeling off in the early weeks or after a dose increase, don't worry too much as it tends to settle down.
The most common side effects for both Wegovy and Mounjaro include nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, constipation, stomach pain, headaches, and fatigue.
For most people, yes. Your body adapts over time and weight loss can slow, so increasing your dose gradually is a normal part of the process. That said, some people reach their goals without ever getting to the highest dose.
Your clinicians will keep a close eye on how you're getting on and guide you every step of the way.
The NHS is making Mounjaro and Wegovy available to people living with obesity and obesity-related health conditions, but eligibility is based on your BMI, any existing conditions, and your commitment to lifestyle changes.
The criteria are strict, and waiting lists can be lengthy, so if you don't qualify, going private is a straightforward alternative.
